Join Us for a Congressional Visits Day
A Congressional Visits Day (CVD) is your chance to make your voice heard on Capitol Hill. Scientists, engineers and professionals from across the U.S. meet with members of Congress to advocate for funding and policies that drive scientific progress.

Why Participate in a Congressional Visits Day?

Congressional Visits Day (CVD) gives you direct access to decision-makers who shape science policy. Your expertise and personal stories help Congress understand how funding, legislation and public policy decisions impact your field.

Geosciences Congressional Visits Day (Geo-CVD)
15-16 September 2026 | Washington, D.C.

Geoscience Congressional Visits Day (GEO-CVD) will take place in Washington, D.C. 15-16 September 2026.

Each year, AGU and partner Earth science societies bring scientists directly to Capitol Hill to increase the visibility of and support for the geosciences. This two-day event provides an opportunity to meet face-to-face with members of Congress and staff and share the value of your science. Participants build science policy skills through expert seminars and panels, connect with peers from across the Earth sciences community, and walk into congressional offices prepared to make an impact.

"Thank you so much for organizing such an impactful and energizing experience... It is truly an honor to be part of [this offering] and to join fellow scientist-advocates in bringing our work to the Hill. From the workshop to the meetings to the casual hallway conversations, the entire experience was so thoughtfully planned and deeply meaningful."
